How to clean and maintain piano keys ?
1. Keep your hands clean when using
Keep the piano clean. When playing the piano, please remember to clean and dry your hands first, so as to avoid stains on the piano. When opening the piano, gently open the cover. Do not flick or hit the piano keys too hard to avoid damaging the keys and affecting internal parts.
2. Cover the piano cover and piano cover after use
Some students always forget to put down the piano cover and piano cover after practicing the piano. In fact, this is a bad habit. Why is it important to put down the piano cover? There is a lot of dust in the air, even indoors. If the piano cover is not put down and the key cover is not closed, dust will fall on the piano and piano keys. Especially if it is not used for a long time, the dust will accumulate more and thicker. If the dust falls into the keys or key seams, the greater the damage to the piano will be, which will affect the flexibility of the action system. The piano will also produce noise, which greatly reduces the performance of the piano. Therefore, after practicing the piano, put down the piano cover and cover the piano with the piano cover in time.
3. It is not allowed to clean the piano lacquer with coarse fiber cloth such as towels.
The surface of the piano is coated with a layer of piano paint of about 0.6mm, which is used to help the piano isolate air, moisture, sunlight, acid and alkali corrosion, etc., and to protect the piano parts. For the daily cleaning and maintenance of this layer of piano paint, remember not to use towels and rags with rough fibers. Use a towel to wipe the piano, these thick fibers will scratch this layer of paint, and damage the piano as much as "wiping the piano with abrasive paper." Therefore, Cournot Piano recommends that you should first use a feather duster to gently dust off the surface of the piano, so as to prevent large particles of dust from scratching the paint surface. In the second step, use a soft cotton cloth to further wipe the paint surface clean, if necessary, use a damp soft cotton cloth to wipe. This is the way to clean the piano.
4. The keyboard should be cleaned regularly
To maintain and clean the piano, you also need to pay attention to regular cleaning of the piano keyboard. When wiping the key surface, use a dry soft cotton cloth to wipe from the inside (in the direction of the music rest) to the outside (in the direction of the piano lock), not horizontally. If there are stains that are difficult to wipe off, use a soft cloth dampened with toothpaste, soapy water or polish liquid to wipe it off. Do not use cleaning agents containing alcohol to prevent the keys from bursting. It should be noted that the same method can not be used to wipe the shell.
5. Keep metal parts clean
Clean and maintain the piano, don't forget the metal parts on the piano. To wipe the copper metal parts on the shell, use a soft cloth dipped in car wax or brightener to avoid oxidation and blackening of the metal parts due to too long storage time, so as to maintain a bright luster.
6. Regular tuning
A good piano must maintain the best performance, in addition to proper maintenance, generally speaking, the piano must be tuned once or twice a year. If it is not adjusted for too long, it is easy to cause permanent wear of the parts, or the structure will be affected due to the increase of the tension of the strings during the next tuning. The tuning and tidying must be done by professionals with tuning lawyers to avoid damage to the piano.
